About 10 years ago, John Hooi had a simple idea and a desire to make a difference. He wondered why parents had to adjust their family’s schedules and drive half way across town to put their child in another classroom with more kids. Wouldn't it be better if the tutor could come to you?  So, in 2003 the company turned to franchising as a way of expanding the company’s impact & meeting the market demand.With offices internationally, the Tutor Doctor vision is becoming a reality as the lives of students and their families are being positively impacted.

Karin Crawford is the owner of the Tutor Doctor franchise which serves the communities of Kitchener-Waterloo and the surrounding area. Karin is a long time resident of Kitchener-Waterloo and is actively involved in the community through her affiliations with the local Chamber of Commerce, the Waterloo Region Literacy Group, and the Canadian Federation of University Women. It's Karin's passion for empowering individuals to realize their potential that translates to a driven, effective owner of a Tutor Doctor franchise.

Karin brings to the business over 10 years of senior level business experience working as a professionally designated accountant for small, medium, and large organizations.  Her own passion for learning and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring others compelled her to pursue a certificate as a Teacher/Trainer of Adults.
